ROOTED IN PLACE, POWERED BY LOCALS
Gorge Owned, a community-building organization working toward resilient, thriving communities in the Columbia Gorge, formally dissolved in 2020, but the organization’s work continues in many of the programs and initiatives it helped to launch. Thank you to all of the amazing volunteers and staff who gave so much time and energy over the years.
Sense of Place Lecture Series
The annual Sense of Place lecture series connects people through place and storytelling. Sense of Place features presenters from throughout the Pacific Northwest who share new insights into the cultural, natural, or political history of the Columbia River Gorge. The program is now a program of Mt. Adams Institute.
Power of Local, Sustainable Choices
For every $100 you spend at a local business, $68 will stay in the community. What happens when you spend that same $100 at a national chain? Only $43 stays here. Local business do much more than provide jobs and revenue: they are the lifeblood of our Main Streets who give bad in myriad ways.
